Fortescue to Expand Christmas Creek Mine

Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG) is planning a substantial expansion of its Christmas Creek iron ore mine in the Australian Pilbara region, The Australian reported.

As quoted in the market news:

Environmental documents released yesterday show that Fortescue is looking for approval to lift output at Christmas Creek from 50 million tonnes a year to 85 million tonnes. The documents said work could start on the expansion from 2015.
