A brief overview of cobalt price developments, supply and demand and significant market movers.

Western cobalt prices have so far risen in September compared to July, data from Metal-Pages shows.

99.6 percent cobalt averaged $13.02 per pound on the low side and $13.80 per pound on the high side until September 20, compared with an average low of $12.13 per pound and a high of $123.33 per pound in August.

99.8 percent cobalt, used for aerospace applications, averaged $13.46 a pound on the low side and $14.42 a pound on the high side until September 20, compared with the August average low of $12.30 a pound and high of $13.57 a pound.

Prices for Chinese cobalt, minimum 99.8 percent electrolytic metal, rose slightly in September, averaging 208.83 yuan (US$33.12) a kilogram on the low side and 211.67 yuan ($33.57) a kilogram on the high side until September 20. In August, prices averaged 204 yuan ($32.35) a kilogram on the low side and 206 yuan ($32.67) a kilogram on the high side.
