A brief overview of cobalt price developments, supply and demand and significant market movers.

The 2013 rebound in cobalt prices appears to have hit a wall, according to Metal-Pages.

During the week of March 14, prices fell to between $11.20 and $11.60 per pound for EU 99.3-percent cobalt. Prices had risen above $12 per pound in late February, the culmination of a run from $10 that began in early January.

EU 99.6-percent material has shown a nearly identical price pattern, with the going rate declining to $11.20 to $11.80 per pound in the week of March 14.

High-purity, 99.8-percent cobalt material has held up better in the EU, with recent prices dipping to between $11.50 and $12.50 per pound. That’s only slightly down from the $12 to $13 range that prevailed for most of late January and February.
