Copper prices remained relatively stable on the LME Tuesday, and rose 0.5 percent to $6,095 a tonne while investors awaited further information from the Federal Reserve meeting slated to begin today that could yield more news about a potential interest rate hike, Bloomberg reported.

Copper has been on the rise lately, thanks to unexpectedly low supply. News that China, the world’s largest copper consumer, could introduce new economic stimulus programs, has also buoyed the metal’s fortunes.

Comex copper for July delivery reached $2.7765 a pound on a gain of 0.38 percent, according to MarketWatch.
