The Record reported that the private equity arm of Brookfield Asset Management is investing in WatServ, a Waterloo company that pioneered cloud computing in Canada.

The Record reported that the private equity arm of Brookfield Asset Management is investing in WatServ, a Waterloo company that pioneered cloud computing in Canada.
As quoted in the publication:

WatServ, which stands for Waterloo Managed Software Services, operates four data centres — one in Waterloo and three in Michigan — and it plans to open another one in the United Kingdom.

The company, which currently has 20 employees in Canada and five in other countries, has customers around the world, including in Japan, England and Brazil.

Doerner, WatServ’s chief executive officer, said the bulk of investment from Brookfield will be used to hire new staff and acquire new technology.
