At Least 200 Trapped After Explosion at Western Turkey Coal Mine
CTV News reported that an underground explosion and fire has left 200 workers stranded within the mine.
CTV News reported that an underground explosion and fire has left 200 workers stranded within the mine. Local administrator Mehmet Bahattin Atci said that a power distribution unit caused the explosion, CTV stated.
As quoted in the publication:
Tamer Kucukgencay, the head of a mining trade union for the region, told the state-run Anadolu Agency that fresh air was being pumped into the mine. Journalists were being kept away from the site but a witness told the station that ambulances were entering and leaving the area.
