South Africa to Review Mining Royalties for Manganese

Bloomberg reported that it is expected that South African President Jacob Zuma will review mining royalties as he tries to curb rising poverty in the country.

As quoted in the market report:

The review is “to make sure that we have an appropriate revenue base to support public spending,” he said. “Part of this study will evaluate the current mining royalties regime, with regard to its ability to suitably serve our people.
