Enbridge recently acquired a $20-million land package along the northwest coast of British Columbia

Enbridge recently acquired a $20-million land package along the northwest coast of British Columbia. While the company doesn’t have any immediate plans for the land, this latest move could be interpreted as the company joining in the push to export liquified natural gas (LNG) to Asia.

According to the Vancouver Sun, Enbridge’s piece of land is adjacent to larger blocks of land owned by Australia’s Woodsite and China’s Nexen. So fat the company has not announced its plans for the land, however, spokesperson Ivan Giesbrecht commented that “We are a pipeline company and we are always looking for possible business opportunities. That’s what this is. We have no set plans.”

According to the Sun, the company has admitted that the land purchase has no affiliation with the Northern Gateway Pipeline.
