The Street reported the introduction of a proposal that could end a decades-long series of legal disputes over the development of oil, gas and potash resources in the area of New Mexico which makes up the nation’s largest potash reserve.

The Street reported the introduction of a proposal that could end a decades-long series of legal disputes over the development of oil, gas and potash resources in the area of New Mexico which makes up the nation’s largest potash reserve.

Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar, who drafted the proposal, said:

At stake here are tens of thousands of jobs in southeastern New Mexico in the oil and gas industry as well as thousands of jobs in the potash industry. And importantly, both of those industries are part of the energy and mineral security of the United States.
