Coal India output drops by 8% in Oct

The Hindu Times.com reports that in October, Coal India ltd says that its’ coal production was down slightly by8.1 per cent or 3.19 million tonnes (mt) to 36.01 mt from the targeted 39.20 mt, in an increase over last year’s October figure.

The story is quoted as saying:

“Lowering production was a conscious decision to tackle accumulated pithead stock and logistic bottleneck, which worked against speedy dispatches,” the Chairman explained reporters on the sidelines of the 35 Foundation Day function here on Monday.
