China First Coal Project Gains State Environmental Approval
The Economic Times reported that Clive Palmer’s Waratah Coal Pty Ltd. has received state environmental approval for its Queensland-based China First coal project. It plans to apply for federal environmental approval in October.
The Economic Times reported that Clive Palmer’s Waratah Coal Pty Ltd. has received state environmental approval for its Queensland-based China First coal project. It plans to apply for federal environmental approval in October.
As quoted in the market news:
Palmer’s Waratah Coal has long planned to build a mine in the Galilee Basin but has yet to line up funding for the project, whose biggest hurdle is lack of rail access to a port nearly 500 kilometres (300 miles) away.
Waratah Coal said it had won approval for its environmental impact statement (EIS) for the mine and rail portions from the Queensland coordinator general and would seek a review from the federal government’s environment department.
