Polish Treasury Minister Fired After Failure to Supervise Relations Between PGNiG and Gazprom

Reuters reported that the Polish Prime Minister has fired his Treasury Minister over allegations that he did not supervise relations between Polish PGNiG and its dealings with Russia’s Gazprom.

As quoted in the market report:

Energy issues related to Russia are a hot political topic in Poland, which is seeking to reduce reliance on oil and gas from its eastern neighbour and former communist era master. Russia accounts for 90 percent of Poland’s oil imports and more than half of its gas.
