Patent Battle Represents Major Threat to Global Rare Earth Supply

Mineweb reported that a battle between China and Japanese Hitachi Metals, Ltd. over sintered rare earth magnet patents threatens up to half of rare earth production globally.

The new industrial alliance announced Monday that it will sue Hitachi Metals “for holding invalid patents and infringing patent rights of Chinese companies, China Daily reported.
