Mineweb reported that BHP is considering selling its Pinto Valley copper/moly mine in Arizona, contrary to earlier reports that they were preparing to restart the mine.
As quoted in the market report:
BHP CEO Marius Kloppers said last week that the mining industry would have to refocus on controlling costs and improving productivity. The company has been considering selling smaller and lower-priority assets and has appointed consultants on a sale of Brazilian aluminum assets, and an early-stage iron ore project in Guinea. The company has also pondered selling its diamond mining business.
