Brent Cook of Exploration Insights took a moment to chat about some of his current picks, including Mirasol Resources, Mariana Resources and Reservoir Minerals.
Brent Cook of Exploration Insights took a moment to speak with the Investing News Network (INN) at the 2015 Sprott-Stansberry Vancouver Natural Resource Symposium.
Cook talked about some of his favorite picks, including Mirasol Resources (TSXV:MRZ), Mariana Resources (LSE:MARL) and copper-focused Reservoir Minerals (TSXV:RMC). Although INN asked him to point out some of the qualms he might have about Mirasol and Mariana, Cook had a hard time finding anything wrong with either company’s flagship project.
He noted that Mariana has “made an amazing discovery” at its Hot Maden project in Turkey, mentioning that his only issue is the difficulty for North Americans wanting to invest in the company (Mariana is listed in London).
Looking at Mirasol, Cook stated that he’s awaiting the results of drilling to be conducted by the company’s joint venture partner, Yamana Gold (TSX:YRI), at the Atlas and Titan projects in Northern Chile over the next year or so. “The advantage Mirasol’s got is they’re not spending the money — Yamana is,” he said. “And if Yamana likes what they see, they’re carried all the way to a feasibility, and retain 30 percent. So there’s no cost to them. I like that model, particularly right now, in these times.”
When asked about his top picks in junior mining right now, Cook pointed to Mirasol and to Reservoir Minerals, which has a joint venture for its Timok project in Serbia with Freeport-McMoRan Exploration.
