At Cambridge House International’s 2015 Vancouver Resource Investment Conference, Resource Investing News spoke with Brent Cook of Exploration Insights about the gold space and a few companies he thinks could be worth a look. An independent exploration analyst and seasoned geologist, Cook participated in the 2015 exploration forecast panel at the conference and also gave a keynote presentation to a packed hall of attendees.
He spoke about a number of subjects, including peak gold and what the future holds for the gold price (he believes “we’ve seen a floor in the gold price”). In terms of what it takes to find a good gold deposit, Cook said that it takes “a lot of money, a lot of time [and] a lot of patience” to find a gold deposit that is actually economic. He stressed that it’s important for investors to be able “to differentiate between a legitimate discovery and something that’s just not going to work as quickly as possible.”
Cook also gave some insight into Osisko Gold Royalties (TSX:OR) — set to merge with Virginia Mines (TSX:VGQ) — noting that it’s a stock that he could see himself giving to his children. Finally, he pointed to Mirasol Resources (TSXV:MRZ) — which he owns shares in — as a junior he’s watching right now.
