Tanzania Abandons Plan to Cut 50 MW of Power to Gold Mines

Platts reported that Tanzania will not reduce power supply to gold mines as previously announced.

The market news is quoted as saying:

In March, Tanesco announced it would cut 50 MW of electricity from mining areas, citing a shortage of 260 MW from the national grid. The decision was strongly opposed by The Tanzania Chamber of Minerals and Energy, which said power rationing would bring mining activities to a stand still.
