Cybercrime is a growing concern, and it’s estimated that the annual cost could top US$23 trillion in 2027. Cybersecurity companies are working to address the challenge.
Additionally, with the rise of AI, cybersecurity firms have had to quickly adapt to the use of powerful new tools that can more easily bypass traditional defenses and more quickly find exploits within existing code.
As investor interest in this potentially lucrative sector increases, the Investing News Network (INN) is profiling the top 10 biggest cybersecurity companies by market cap on the NASDAQ and NYSE as listed on Trading View on August 18, 2026.
1. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)
Market Cap: US$3.58 trillion
Share Price: US$481.63
The largest cybersecurity company by market cap is Microsoft. While it isn't a pureplay cybersecurity company, the tech giant is a major player in the cloud security market, which includes cloud native application protection platform (CNAPP) products and services.
Microsoft revealed Codename MDASH, an agentic security harness, in May 2026. MDASH is focused on discovering zero-day vulnerabilities. Then, in July, the company unveiled MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, its first AI-based cybersecurity tool inside MDASH, designed to compete with similar tools from Anthropic, Google and OpenAI. The tool was built to recognize key vulnerabilities that could be exploited by increasingly powerful malicious AI agents.
2. Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN)
Market Cap: US$2.8 trillion
Share Price: US$259.45
While cybersecurity may not be the first thing that comes to mind when people think of Amazon, the company was a pioneer in cloud computing security. In 2013, the company secured its first cloud contract with the US government by signing a deal with the CIA for its C2S service, designed to provide an air-gapped cloud for top-secret data.
Since then, it has expanded its portfolio of services with government, enterprise and commercial products, including Macie, an AI-driven data security and privacy service.
It has also strengthened its cybersecurity division over the years with key acquisitions including Sqrrl in 2018, a threat hunting platform developed by former NSA engineers; CloudEndure in 2019, a disaster recovery suite designed to provide data recovery; and Wickr in 2021, an end-to-end encrypted communication, file sharing and collaboration tool aimed at enterprise and government applications.
In June 2026, the company announced AWS Continuum, which finds vulnerabilities and security risks with user-defined guardrails. The product has been designed to work alongside Amazon's existing cybersecurity services.
Additionally, Amazon partners with other cybersecurity firms to provide customers with a resilient, scalable platform to meet individual needs.
3. Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO)
Market Cap: US$1.81 trillion
Share Price: US$380
Global technology firm Broadcom has built a large portfolio of embedded and mainframe security solutions, as well as payment authentication software.
The company broadened its offerings with the Symantec Enterprise Cloud in November 2019 with the acquisition of the enterprise software division of Symantec, a company now known as Gen Digital (NASDAQ:GEN). Broadcom's Symantec offerings include secure access service edge technologies and zero-trust security.
It later added Carbon Black, an endpoint detection and response and cloud workload platform, as part of its 2023 acquisition of VMware. Broadcom has continued to develop its VMware and Carbon Black offerings. In August 2026, it shared an update to its VMware Tanzu Platform with new AI security features that help companies running AI agents within private clouds better monitor autonomous software programs and provide more trust in the systems.
4. Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO)
Market Cap: US$439.9 billion
Share Price: US$111.61
For a number of years now, Cisco Systems has increasingly invested in boosting its cybersecurity services. Today, the company offers an array of products for cloud security, endpoint security and security analytics. To address the cybersecurity skills shortage, Cisco offers certification programs for IT professionals.
In 2024, Cisco made its largest-ever acquisition when it closed a US$28 billion deal for Splunk, adding Spunk's platform that provides security across organizational networks to detect cyber threats and intrusions.
The company has continued to broaden its AI integrations, and in June 2026 introduced Cisco Cloud Control, an agentic platform that unifies its offerings and is designed to protect critical IT infrastructure. The product was developed to be used by human operators or AI agents and allows users to create their own apps, or integrate third-party tools to shore up vulnerabilities and exploits against emerging AI threats.
5. Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW)
Market Cap: US$304.92 billion
Share Price: US$374.14
Palo Alto Networks bills itself as “the global cybersecurity leader.” The company’s security portfolio includes advanced firewalls and cloud-based offerings that protect more than 80,000 organizations across their clouds, networks and mobile devices.
Its offerings include Prisma Cloud, which integrates AI across various security domains, including network security, cloud security and security operations.
One of its newest offerings is Idira, a dynamic access management tool introduced in May 2026 that monitors a business's access privileges for humans, machines and AI agents to discover and secure vulnerabilities.
6. IBM (NYSE:IBM)
Market Cap: US$219.21 billion
Share Price: US$232.67
IBM's security division offers customers an advanced and integrated portfolio of enterprise security products and services. IBM X-Force helps businesses and organizations integrate security solutions into their everyday functions and provides help with risk assessment, incident detection and threat response.
Like Cisco, IBM also offers cybersecurity certification programs, providing a path for cybersecurity professionals to earn relevant qualifications.
In July 2026, IBM partnered with its subsidiary Red Hat for the commercial launch of Lightwell, which provides a network of more than 6,500 signed and certified open-source dependencies and serves as a trusted intermediary for secure patches and vertical threat coordination.
7. CrowdStrike Holdings (NASDAQ:CRWD)
Market Cap: US$216.81 billion
Share Price: US$212.92
CrowdStrike Holdings is a software-as-a-service solutions provider. This team of cybersecurity professionals uses advanced endpoint detection and response applications and techniques in its machine-learning-powered antivirus protection offerings designed to help stop breaches before they occur.
This is another major cybersecurity company that is incorporating AI, adding it to its security information and event management (SIEM) offerings.
Its new AI-powered functions for its Falcon Next-Gen SIEM platform were first released in May 2024, including the integration of its Charlotte AI, and it has continued to develop the platform since then. In September 2026, the company introduced the Falcon Guardian product, and announced expanded capabilities and reach of the Falcon platform, adding integrations with Google Cloud's enterprise ecosystem and Anthropic's Claude AI.
8. Fortinet (NASDAQ:FTNT)
Market Cap: US$115.93 billion
Share Price: US$158.01
Fortinet provides end-to-end cybersecurity infrastructure products and services, such as firewalls, antivirus tools, intrusion prevention and endpoint security. The company’s cybersecurity platform can address critical security challenges and can protect data across digital infrastructure systems, whether in networked, application, multi-cloud or edge environments.
Fortinet's client base includes major sports teams, including the Vancouver Canucks NHL hockey team and the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL football team.
In July 2026, Fortinent announced it was partnering with Intel to develop the security processor 6, or SP6, dedicated to running networking and security tasks. The processor is an upgrade over its previous processors and is the first non-intel chip to be made with the Intel 4 seven nanometer manufacturing node.
9. Cloudflare (NYSE:NET)
Market Cap: US$107.31 billion
Share Price: US$301.36
Cloudflare is a global cloud platform that provides cybersecurity and content delivery services. Its famous for a wall of lava lamps at its San Francisco headquarters, which generate random patterns for cryptographic hashing.
On the back end, Cloudflare claims to be used by 45 percent of Fortune 500 companies, and more than 20 percent of the internet. Its services include DDoS protection, cloud-native network firewalls, bot protection and the prevention of browser supply chain attacks.
In August 2026, the company announced it had achieved the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) High certification and the GovRAMP Moderate authorization, enabling it to protect sensitive data at the Federal and State levels and across highly regulated industries.
10. Zscaler (NASDAQ:ZS)

Share Price: US$185.70
Cloud security company Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange platform can be used to secure user-to-app, app-to-app and machine-to-machine communications over any network. The company also offers cloud migrating services. Zscaler is known for setting the standard in the field of security service edge and secure access service edge, and it claims the Zero Trust Exchange is the world's most-used security service edge platform.
In August 2026, the company announced the expanded reach of its Zero Trust Exchange platform through its partnership with Carahsoft Technology, with a focus on small- and medium-sized businesses and the mid-market segment. The companies will deliver cloud-native zero-trust security to protect against ransomware, phishing and identity threats.
