Copper prices rose September 9. In London, copper futures for December delivery hit $7,197.75 a tonne, rising $35.99 from the previous session, Bloomberg reported.

On the Comex in New York, prices were also up $0.02 to $3.29 a pound. For the quarter, copper prices are up 6.7 percent as of Sept. 6, the source said.

An increase in exports from China during August revealed economic growth within the world’s largest copper user, boosting prices of the metal today. Last month, shipments from China rose 7.2 percent from August 2012, according to Bloomberg.
