Duluth News Tribune reported that an organized mining group is helping to push copper mining projects in northeastern Minnesota. The poll, which shows support for copper projects, comes less than two months before the state and federal regulators make their revised environmental review of the proposed PolyMet project public. The PolyMet copper mine would be the first ever copper mine in the state of Minnesota.

According to the report:

The poll of 603 registered Minnesota voters– paid for by Jobs for Minnesotans, which includes business, labor and civic leaders – found 48 percent support copper-nickel mining, while just 22 percent oppose it, and 31 percent didn’t know enough to say.
