5 Top NASDAQ Tech Stocks: Bsquare Gains From Last Week to Lead
This week’s NASDAQ top gainer in the Computer Software & Processing sector was Bsquare, followed by Mentor Graphics, Nuance Communications, Guidance Software and Planet Payment.
The NASDAQ Technology Sector (INDEXNASDAQ:NDXT) had a good week and was up 2.35 percent and ended the week at 2,825.74 points by market close on Friday.
Some stability followed the volatility last week due to the US elections where Donald Trump surprisingly clinched the coveted seat for US president. According to TechCrunch, Trump will not be a friend to the tech world.
Despite remaining uncertainty surrounding the Trump presidency, here are last week’s top NASDAQ tech stocks in the computer software and processing industry:
- Bsquare (NASDAQ:BSQR)
- Mentor Graphics (NASDAQ:MENT)
- Nuance Communications (NASDAQ:NUAN)
- Guidance Software (NASDAQ:GUID)
- Planet Payment (NASDAQ:PLPM)
Here is a closer look at last week’s top gainers:
Bsquare
Bsquare is a technology distributor and solution provider for the Internet of Things. Recently the company reported its Q3 results, announcing revenue at $22.5 million.
Shares of Bsquare gained 19.57 percent over the five-day trading period, and ended the week at $5.50 per share.
Mentor Graphics
Mentor Graphics is a US-based software firm. Last week, Siemens announced the purchase of Mentor Graphics for either $37.25 per share or 21 percent more than Mentor’s closing price on Friday. The Mentor board advised shareholders to approve the deal.
Shares of Mentor Graphics gained 18.94 percent over the five-day trading period, and ended the week at $36.49 per share. Year-to-date, the stock has gained 98.1 percent.
Nuance Communications
Nuance Communications is a provider of voice recognition solutions and natural language understanding technologies.
Shares of Nuance Communications ended on a high note on Friday when it registered a gain of 17.92 percent over the five-day trading period, and ended the week at $16.91 per share.
Guidance Software
Guidance Software, a cybersecurity technology company, announced its Q3 financial results and a revenue of $27.7 million, up from the same period last year.
Last week, shares of Guidance Software gained 15.42 percent over the five-day trading period, and ended the week at $6.81 per share.
Planet Payment
Planet Payment provides worldwide payment and transaction processing across currencies. Their third quarter results saw total revenue grow 8 percent to $13.6 million, up $1 million from 2015.
Shares of Planet Payment trended steadily upwards last week and gained 11.79 percent over the five-day trading period, and ended the week at $4.36 per share.
