US Mint's American Eagle Gold, Silver Coin Sales Down in August

Reuters reported that in August, the US Mint’s sales of American Eagle gold coins sank 40 percent from July; however, at 101,500 ounces, sales were still four times what they were in August 2014.
Meanwhile, sales of American Eagle silver coins also sank in August, dropping 10.7 percent from July. Sales of those coins came in at 4.93 million ounces, more than double the level seen in August 2014.
As quoted in the market news:
Sales of American Eagle silver coins also fell in August, after prices dropped to a six-year low that fuelled demand in July, forcing the Mint to halt sales for nearly two weeks after running out of stock. Sales resumed at the end of July but have been under weekly allocations of roughly one-million ounces as the Mint ramped up supplies.
