The Gateway Pundit writes that a letter to the editor published in The Silverton Standard and The Miner predicted a recent toxic spill caused by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The letter, sent in by a retired geologist with over 47 years of experience, accurately predicted how disaster would occur at the mine given the EPA’s planned cleanup methods.

The geologist suggested that the EPA knew what would happen, and proceeded anyway in order to have the Gold King mine declared a superfund site:
    As quoted in the publication:

This letter to editor, posted below, was published in The Silverton Standard and The Miner local newspaper, authored by a retired geologist, one week before EPA mine spill. The letter detailed verbatim, how EPA officials would foul up the Animas River on purpose in order to secure superfund money. If the Gold King mine was declared a superfund site it would essentially kill future development for the mining industry in the area. The Obama EPA is vehemently opposed to mining and development.
