Barrick Gold Calls Off Sale of African Unit

Bloomberg reported that Barrick Gold Corp. has called off talks with China National Gold Group Corp without reaching an agreement to sell their African unit.

As quoted in the market report:

Barrick still sees “a lot of value” in the assets held by its African Barrick Gold Plc (ABG) subsidiary, Toronto-based Barrick’s Chief Executive Officer Jamie Sokalsky said today in a phone interview. Shares of African Barrick fell 21 percent in London.
