The Investing News Network looks back at the year’s top-performing uranium articles.

2015 has been a rough year across the board for commodities. From gold to oil, investors have seen very little positive movement in commodities prices.
But luckily for uranium investors, the energy metal has managed to stay afloat — it gained early in the year and is currently sitting at US$36 per pound of U3O8. Uranium’s good fortune is largely due to the fact that its supply and demand fundamentals are positive: supply is running short and demand is getting higher. Indeed, a supply crunch is expected in 2020, meaning that it’s just a matter of time before the sector really starts moving.
Investors have been busy doing some reading as they wait for that movement. With that in mind, the Investing News Network has put together an overview of the five top uranium articles of 2015.

1. 10 Top Uranium-producing Countries

Did you know that since 2009 Kazakhstan has been the world’s top producer of uranium? Naturally, responsible investors want to do their homework. If investing in uranium strikes your fancy, it’s best to know where it comes from. Updated yearly, the Investing News Network’s list of the 10 top uranium-producing countries provides readers with a quick overview of where uranium is produced and how much of it each country puts out.

2. Thorium: An Alternative for Nuclear Energy?

Uranium investors are sure to want an understanding of the competition. With thorium gaining some attention as a possible alternative to nuclear energy, uranium investors want to know the scoop on this slightly radioactive metal. In this article, the Investing News Network compares thorium and uranium in order to educate investors on how thorium may play into the future of nuclear energy.

3. David Sadowski: A Bullish Future for Uranium

As mentioned, uranium kicked off 2015 with positive price activity — it was hovering around US$37 in February. Though its price has come down a touch since then, uranium’s early moves set the precedent for the year. Speaking to investors at the AME BC Mineral Exploration Roundup, Raymond James analyst David Sadowski outlined the key market fundamentals for investors to watch, predicting a deficit toward the end of the decade.

4. Salman Partners: Uranium Prices to Rise from Now to 2018

One of the more positive price outlooks that uranium has seen recently comes from Salman Partners analyst Raymond Goldie, who outlined his expectations for uranium in November. According to Goldie — and much to investors’ delight — the uranium price could be looking up in early 2016.

5. Uranium Outlook: Supply Deficit in the Cards

The most common theme in uranium over the last few years has been the impending supply deficit. Since 2011’s Fukushima disaster, which sent the uranium price plummeting, investors have been waiting patiently for a revival. Looking back over the year, the Investing News Network spoke with several thought leaders in the uranium space about what investors can expect moving forward. Though uranium “missed the mark” in 2015, the continued confidence from analysts and companies is encouraging.
