Freeport’s Cerro Verde Copper Miners Start 48-Hour Strike

Bloomberg reports that Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE:FCX) copper miners in Peru started the first of a series of strikes to raiuse their pay.

The market news is quoted as saying:

Workers in Peru, Chile and Bolivia have gone on strike at copper, gold and zinc mines this year for better working conditions and a bigger share of record company earnings.
