Reuters reported that copper prices were on the rise on Friday ahead of the release of key economic data from China. However, a strong US Dollar kept a cap on gains.

Benchmark copper on the London Metal Exchange had climbed 1.3 percent to $4,955 a tonne by 1500 GMT, but the metal used in power and construction is on course for its first weekly loss since the week to Feb. 12.
