The Wall Street Journal reported that copper made slight gains on Wednesday after some data from the US indicating that home sales and orders for long-lasting goods were up, hinting at higher demand for the red metal from the world’s second top consumer.

According to analysts with Deutsche Bank:

Copper’s demand indicators look to be healthy.”

The cost to acquire metal in China, the top consumer, remains high, the analysts said, while “key end demand sectors of property, power generating equipment” and air conditioning have rebounded.
