Codelco, Anglo American Request Extension for Negotiations

Base Metals Investing Reuters reported that Anglo American (LSE:AAL) and Codelco have both requested that their deadline for coming to an agreement outside of court about their dispute over the Anglo American Sur property be extended from June 22 to July 17.

The mining titans requested the extension “to allow talks to continue,” suggesting they may be close to a deal to end a bitter dispute over coveted copper assets.
“This means they’re well on their way to a deal,” said Juan Ignacio Guzman, mining professor at the Universidad Catolica.
