ABC News reports that Tropicana, Western Australia’s latest gold mine, has poured its first gold.

As quoted in the market news:

The project, 330 kilometres north east of Kalgoorlie is a joint venture between Anglo Gold (NYSE:AU) and Independence Group (ASX:IGO) and is expected to become the fourth largest gold producing mine in the nation.

The mine has taken over a decade to develop and currently employs over 500 staff on site, which will be reduced to 450 permanent staff when construction is complete.
