Peru’s Buenaventura Says Workers Start Strike at Gold Mine

Bloomberg reported that workers at Buenaventura (NYSE:BVN) in Peru are striking to demand higher wages.

The market news is quoted as saying:

Peru’s Labor Ministry declared the strike at the Orcopampa mine illegal and will broker talks between the company and labor officials this week, Chief Financial Officer Carlos Galvez said.
