    Mining Weekly reported that Mongolia has cancelled some mining licenses indirectly linked to the Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold project, aiming to place pressure on Rio Tinto in advance of scheduled talks.

    As quoted in the market report:

    The cancellation follows a string of complaints by the Mongolian government over OyuTolgoi, which is controlled by Rio Tinto through its Turquoise Hill Resources unit, in the lead-up to a presidential election due in June.
