James Turk reported on Deciphering the BIS Gold Swap:

Much has been made recently of the news that the BIS last year completed a 380-tonne gold swap with an unnamed commercial bank. The demand for coking and non coking coal increases very year in India due to establishment of more steel plants and power plants. So countries like Australia,Indonesia, Mozambique and other coal bearing countries may be partner to India in the development of coal mines in their respective countries. India may be a long term buyer for the coal produced from these countries. India is going for production of oil from coal .So the requirement of coal will increase in future. This may help in meeting the coal demand of India and provide scope for development of mining sector in these countries.
