The editorial is quoted as saying:

At this point, most dinner-table discussions on nuclear power take a predictable turn. “Yes, the risk of nuclear energy might be relatively low,” someone will say, “but there are so many alternatives that we just don’t need to take the risk.” So, is the risk worth the benefits?

Calculating the benefits of nuclear energy is difficult. Nothing any expert says diminishes the fact that it is ultimately for voters to decide the level of (properly analysed) risk they want to live with. But it is worth clearing the air on one important point.
