Businessweek reported that the state of Wyoming is taking time to decide how best to handle its new large lithium discovery. Since the announcement, the state is already seeing lease applications pouring in.

Ryan Lance, director of the Office of State Lands, commented that the state is taking its time in deciding how best to handle the applications due to the enormous potential value – estimated at $500 billion – of the lithium find.

“We’re talking about a $500 billion market price on that lithium and we, of course, have to be very cautious. We don’t want to give it to anyone for a dollar.”
