MetalBulletin reported that cobalt prices improved Friday as buyers purchased large tonnages.
As quoted in the market news:
Low-grade prices climbed to $11.45-13.20 per lb, as the range widened from $11.45-13 on Wednesday August 21. High-grade cobalt reached $12.15-13.65, having dipped to $12-13.50 on Wednesday. Business was confirmed above $14 for both one high-grade sale and one low-grade sale, with sellers noting that supply is limited. ‘Physically, the market situation is tight,’ a producer, who anticipates Chinese interest in metal due to a potential lack of intermediates and raw materials, said.
