5 companies apply to prospect for copper, nickel

CBonline reports that five companies have applied for the right to prospect for copper, nickel and other in-demand metals across 44,000 acres in Minnesota.

The market news is quoted as saying,

The exploration is driven by high metal prices and hopes of finding copper, nickel and other valuable minerals in a geological formation called the Duluth Complex. Industry officials told the Star Tribune for a story published Thursday that very little of the area covered by the review has been prospected.
