Mitek (NASDAQ:MITK), a global leader in identity verifications announced that it has achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification, the international standard for best practices in information security management systems.

The company said that the certification affirms Mitek’s commitment to following the highest standards in data security and privacy for its new cloud-based digital identity verification platform.

As quoted in the text release:

“As an industry leader in identity verification, we are vigilant about the importance of protecting the confidentiality and integrity of consumers’ personally identifiable information, which is our customers’ most sensitive corporate data,” said James DeBello, Chairman and CEO, Mitek. “Mitek is one of the only identity document verification providers to receive this certification, proving our commitment and ongoing investments in achieving -recognized certifications for enterprise level data security and privacy.”

To attain ISO 27001 certification, Mitek was assessed by an independent auditor against the framework and guidelines set forth by the International Organization for Standardization for information security management system (ISMS). Throughout its assessment, Mitek successfully demonstrated a systematic and documented approach to protecting and managing sensitive company and customer information including financial information, intellectual property, employee and customer data, and information entrusted to it by third parties. The ISO 27001:2013 certification extends to every level of an organization’s people, processes and technology, including its IT infrastructure stack, access control, asset management, human resources processes and application security.
