The simple fact of the matter is that looking at long-term gold prices in ratio with other inflation sensitive commodity indicators, such as silver, oil and gold mining stocks, tells the same story as looking at gold relative to various monetary aggregates. That story is that one cannot find in the data justification in the past or present to account for the majority of the increase in gold prices.
