Spot gold was at $1,624.80 an ounce at 0923 EDT against $1,622.30 late on Thursday. Prices are set to rise nearly 2 percent this week after soft U.S. data and speculation the euro zone crisis could hamper U.S. growth fuelled talk of more quantitative easing from the Federal Reserve.
