The gold price slid 0.3 percent on Wednesday to hit $1,190.40 an ounce, according to Reuters. Meanwhile, gold futures for August delivery fell to $1,189.70.
Those declines came on the heels of positive US employment numbers, which boosted investor confidence and the stock market. On Friday, the US Department of Labor will release payroll data that provides a more comprehensive look at the economy. If the data in that report is positive, it could signal even larger declines for the yellow metal.
