Fremont Gold (TSXV:FRE) (“Fremont” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that Blaine Monaghan has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of Fremont and a director of the Company.
Mr. Monaghan has a proven track record of creating shareholder value in the mining industry. He has been involved in capital raises totalling more than $100 million for exploration projects around the globe and has worked with a number of companies that were subject to M&A, including True Gold Mining Inc. (acquired by Endeavour Mining Corp.), Canplats Resources Corp. (acquired by Goldcorp Inc.), Western Prospector Group Ltd. (acquired by a subsidiary of China Nuclear National Corp.), Nu Energy Uranium Corp. (acquired by Mega Uranium) and Wheaton River Minerals Ltd. (which merged with Goldcorp in 2005).
Mr. Monaghan replaces Dennis Moore who will continue in his role as President and a director of Fremont. Mr. Moore will focus his efforts on advancing Fremont’s promising portfolio of Nevada gold projects, identifying new business opportunities for the Company, and will assist in ongoing marketing activities.
Mr. Moore stated, “As a founder of the Company and its largest shareholder, I have absolute confidence that Blaine has the experience and skillset to take Fremont to the next level. As CEO, Blaine will be building Fremont’s brand among key stakeholders, securing the capital required for us to achieve our exploration and development goals, and dealing with the day to day corporate activities of the Company. This will free up my time to focus on building ounces, develop our existing properties and identify new business opportunities.”
Mr. Monaghan joins Fremont from Allegiant Gold Ltd., where he served as Vice President Corporate Development and played a leading role in the listing, financing and development of Allegiant. Mr. Monaghan holds an MBA from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University and a diploma in public relations from the Public Relations Institute of Ireland.
Mr. Monaghan noted that “I’m very excited to join the team at Fremont. Dennis has assembled a highly prospective portfolio of gold projects in one of the world’s best mining jurisdictions and a very talented group of explorationists to achieve the Company’s goals. I look forward to working closely with Dennis and other members of Fremont’s team to create significant shareholder value.”
