In the section of the program related to the mining sector, the former president (2006-10) recognized the importance of the sector to the country’s economy, accounting for 13% of the national GDP. “The importance of mining to our economy allows us to remain as the main and most efficient copper producer worldwide.”

“We will create a high-level technical committee that will propose a national lithium policy that will take these factors and others into account for efficient and effective exploitation of this resource, which will allow for optimal profitability from it for the country,” the program reads.
