Vale outlines big Canada spending plans but will halt Manitoba smelter, refinery

Mining Weekly.com reports that Vale (NYSE:VALE) is changing it’s focus in Canada, closing their operations in Manitoba, and redirecting their funding to projects to other Canadian locations.

Mining Weekly.com reports that Vale (NYSE:VALE)  is changing it’s focus in Canada, closing their operations in Manitoba, and redirecting their funding to projects to other Canadian locations.

The editorial is quoted as saying:

Vale said it will spend a total of $3,4-billion to upgrade mining and processing facilities in Sudbury, while it intends to increase copper production in Canada by 100 000 t, and is evaluating a potential $2,5-billion to $3-billion potash project in Saskatchewan.
