The company said the agency issued its water and air quality permits and the Clean Water Act Section 401 water quality certification for the project.

PolyMet Mining (TSX:POM)  has reported that the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issuing the last remaining major permits required by the state for the company to build and operate the NorthMet copper-nickel-precious metals mine in northeastern Minnesota.

The company said the agency issued its water and air quality permits and the Clean Water Act Section 401 water quality certification for the project.

As quoted in the press release:

We now look forward to a decision soon by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on its wetlands (Section 404) permit, the only remaining key permit (federal). The USACE could not issue its 404 decision until after the MPCA issued its 401 certification.

These permit decisions and the closing of the land exchange in June with the U.S. Forest Service have made for a remarkable year. It is the culmination of a lot of hard work by our team, but it would not have been possible without the steadfast support we have received from local communities, elected officials, labor and the business community. For that, we are truly grateful.
