VIQ Solutions (TSXV:VQS) announced that its Australian based transpricition services and technology provider, Spark and Cannon has been awarded a new contract with Victoria Police.

The company said that the contract is to install and maintain audio/visual recording equipment throughout metropolitan and regional locations.

As quoted in the press release:

The contract was finalized with the issuance of a purchase order dated November 22, 2018. The contract is for an initial period of three years with a further two options available spanning one year each, potentially taking the contract term to five years.

Victoria Police was established in 1853 and provides policing services to the Victorian community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, working to keep over 5.9 million Victorians safe. Victoria Police will place an initial order for 39 units with a value of approximately US$433,000 excluding support and maintenance services over the term of the agreement.

The contract allows for other Victorian Government departments, the New Zealand Police or other Australian Police departments to purchase similar recording solutions under the terms of the contract.

“Spark & Cannon is trusted to transcribe more than 300 million words each year under concurrent multi-year government transcription contracts in Australia,” said Sebastien Paré, President and CEO of VIQ Solutions. “With the expansion of our service offering to now include innovative capturing technology for Victoria Police, we are providing them a true end-to end solution. As more of our existing law-enforcement transcription clients modernize their capturing platforms, Spark & Cannon looks forward to partnering with them to unlock the true value of an end-to-end solution.”

“As the largest provider of law enforcement transcription in Australia, I am extremely pleased to extend our service offering to include the provision of capturing technology and maintenance and support services to Victoria Police,” said Matthew Fowler, Managing Director at Spark & Cannon.
