Standard Bank’s Marc Ground said:
We have actually seen more platinum production under stress given that the basket price has fallen from about R9800 per PGM ounce to about R9350 – so at the moment we are looking at about 480 000 ounces of platinum at risk which is about 10% of South African production. So yes, the bloodletting continues and we are definitely going to have to see some more mine closures etcetera if we want to see price support coming back again.
