Platinum Today reported palladium and platinum jewelry sold online now has a way of being hallmarked or “Assay Assured” by the Edinburgh Assay Office.
As quoted in the marke tnews:
Retailers already signed up to the scheme include Links of London, Ortak, Monica Vinader and Clogau Gold.
All gold, silver, platinum and palladium jewellery sold in the UK must be hallmarked by one of four independent Assay Offices in Edinburgh, London, Sheffield and Birmingham.
Hallmarking is a vital process as precious metals are rarely used in their purest form but are alloyed with lesser metals to achieve the desired strength, durability and colour for the jewellery.
