Orsu Metals Corporation (TSXV:OSU) Managing Director Sergei Stefanovich was featured in an article by The Northern Miner which covered the company’s recently released maiden resource for its Sergeevskoe project in Russia and the company’s long-term goals. The maiden resource outlined a pit-constrained inferred resource of 25.09 million tonnes grading 1.47 g/t gold for 11.9 million ounces of gold. The deposit remains open along strike to the west and down.
Stefanovich believes that the mineralization at Sergeevskoe is an extension of the mineralization at Sun Gold’s historic Klyuchevskoe mine. Sun Gold is in discussions with China National Gold Group (CNGG) who hopes to gain a 70 percent interest in Klyuchevskoe. CNGG has plans to put the mine back into operation, creating an opportunity for Sergeevskoe to be acquired as CNGG looks to added ounces to its deposit.
“We share the border, and we’re talking about the same gold system,” said Stefanovich. “The Klyuchevskoe deposit is 300 meters to the east of us and goes down 600 meters, so why would ours stop.”
Moving forward, Orsu expects to continue drilling on the property to provide an updated resource later this year. The company is currently waiting for its deforestation permit and hopes to start drilling in June. Orsu also plans on conducting some bulk testing.
“The ore body extends to the west, northwest, and there are some occurrences which we didn’t even touch that may well add significantly to the resource,” said Stefanovich. “Moreover, grades are creeping up and getting better as we go deeper, so the low-hanging fruit is to go and do deep drilling, and we’ll do that, but we also want to expand the footprint of the deposit.”
