Lithium Battery Makers Knocked off Perch by South Korean Rivals

Nikkei reports that Japanese manufacturers of lithium ion batteries lost their position in the global market after the earthquake, eclipsed by the South Korean competition for the first time.

Sanyo Electric Co., the world’s second-largest lithium ion battery maker, saw its share shrink 1.4 points to 18.4%.
